With a robust economy driven by oil, forestry, fishery, mining and agriculture, Seram continues to invite investors. Oil is produced in the northeast part of the island, which as of the end of 2010 had estimated proven oil reserves of 9.7 million barrels.

But that’s not all.

Seram’s raw natural beauty also has eyes fixed on it. Experiencing the island means experiencing the untouched jungle, sago forests, eucalyptus tree forests and the exotic orchids. Seram is home to Manusela National Park, established in 1997 to protect an area of 1,890 kilometer square, representing one-tenth of the land area of the island.
